The American Academy resumed its Friday school assemblies on September 15, after a long break. The new auditorium hosted the first meeting, which began with the director’s welcome speech. He emphasized the value of these weekly gatherings. After the director’s speech, Levan Gigineishvili, a Georgian language and literature teacher, recited Nikoloz Baratashvili’s poem “Merani”. He explained how the poem reflects the human quest for the meaning of life, the courage to explore the unknown, and the noble sacrifice for the sake of others.
Finally, Keti Gelashvili, a 12th grade student, presented the Saturday school project, which offers ten-week courses for displaced children from Samachablo and Abkhazia. The project aims to provide students with fun and interesting learning opportunities in various subjects, such as philosophy, physics, chess, debate, political science, English etc.The project is open to 10th and 11th grade students of the American Academy who want to make a difference.
