April 01, 2025

Lile Tsitskishvili, a student at the Guivy Zaldastanishvili American Academy in Tbilisi (Class of 2024), has been awarded the prestigious Handler Scholarship from the University of Rochester and will pursue her studies in the United States with full funding.
The American Academy nominated Lile for this scholarship due to her high motivation, academic achievements, and hard work.
Lile's annual funding amounts to $97,900, which fully covers her tuition and living expenses. Additionally, she received a $3,500 grant for innovative research activities.
Congratulations to Lile on this achievement!
"The American Academy provided a unique environment that helped me discover and fully develop my potential. Without it, achieving my long-held dream of studying in the United States would not have been possible.
The application process, especially while taking a gap year, was both challenging and uncertain. Without the school's support, not only in preparing my applications but also in encouraging me through the process, I wouldn’t have achieved this outcome. It was at the Academy that I first developed a passion for science, conducting my initial research as part of the Vashlovani project.
Now, at the University of Rochester, I will continue on the path the Academy set for me, surrounded by an inspiring environment and abundant resources for scientific research. I can't wait to embrace new experiences in the United States and make the most of the next four years."
