September 21, 2020

The Guivy Zaldastanishvili American Academy in Tbilisi held its fifteenth Annual Graduation Ceremony on July 20, 2020, at 12:00 P. M. at the school grounds.
This year the American Academy graduated 70 students.
The American Academy’s Director, Andrés J. Cruz, was the graduation speaker. Due to the unusual circumstances, this year we couldn’t invite families of our graduates, instead, the group of academy teachers and the school trustees joined the event to support our graduates.
Mamuka Khazaradze, a trustee and the cochairman of the board of the American Academy in Tbilisi, addressed the graduating seniors.
Graduates of the class of 2020 garnered 166 college acceptances worldwide and over 5 million GEL in scholarships.
Two of the 70 graduates were awarded The Thomas and Faculty Medals: The Thomas Medal was awarded to Luka Jijieshvili - “the senior who has demonstrated exemplary character and scholarship over the course of their studies at the GZAAT,” and The Faculty Medal received Ana Kostava - “the student whose love of learning, intellectual curiosity and strength of character have enriched our lives as teachers and affirmed us in the sanctity of our chosen profession.”
This year Misho Gabashvili and Anna Ioseliani were named valedictorians of the class of 2020. At the end of the ceremony, the graduating seniors sang the school anthem for the last time.
Congratulations to the Class of 2020!!!
