November 25, 2021
On November 1, the American Academy celebrated the 102nd anniversary of Guivy Zaldastanishvili, the Founder of the American Academy in Tbilisi. For twenty years, the American Academy has been following Givi Zaldastanisvhilis's philosophy and ideals to further its educational mission and development. Mr. Zaldastani's primary objective, among other objectives and wishes, was to ensure that all talented students could study at the academy (regardless of their financial capabilities).
From the day the school was founded, the American Academy took commitment to providing quality education to talented and promising students from a broad range of backgrounds. In this regard, the school offers a tuition abatement program to students who have strong academic abilities and demonstrated financial need every year. Throughout the school's twenty-year history, 496 students received such assistance, totaling 9,817,901 GEL in the abatement fund.
This is a program that American Academy takes great pride in. The following is an interview with Mr. Zaldastani’s niece, Lizzie Zaldastani-Napier, in which Ms. Zaldastani recounts her family's history.
The interview was recorded by Artarea/Tv2.0 in 2013.
