Diversity of the World - Vashlovani Nature Reserve

The American Academy has developed and introduced the interdisciplinary project “Diversity of the World” (Guide - Vashlovani Nature Reserve and Dedoplistskaro Region ), based on the project teaching method. Its implementation is planned for the 2019-2020 academic year. Students will explore and study the biodiversity of the Vashlovani nature reserve, geological and historical landscape changes, material and non-material cultural heritage of Dedoplistskaro; audio-video recording of works and educational-documentary filming will be carried out; after collecting the data, a model of the region’s economic development will be made. The final product will be a guide (in Georgian and English), which, in our opinion, will contribute to the development of tourism prospects in this region.
During the implementation of the project, the students plan to conduct fieldworks, research, deliver lectures, and compile a region guide.
These works are carried out with the assistance of American Academy teachers - Nia Chachiashvili, Lika Asatiani, Nino Mitsishvili, and Misha Elashvili.
The first introductory tour took place in Pantishara, Artsivi Gorge, and Nazarlebi settlement of the bronze age direction.
